CheckYour6 CS Servers Permanently Offline
I guess the title pretty much says it all. We had an unfortunate hardware failure on the server about 1.5 weeks ago and it pretty much took the machine that runs the CS servers offline. I was just about to leave on a business trip at the time and this past Thursday I retrieved the server from the datacenter and was able to determine the problem of the failure. The decision was made to keep the servers offline indefinitely for several reasons: 1) the CS community is shrinking and CS is inching its way to the end, 2) a lot of the good people that made Cy6 fun has just moved on to other things (myself included and Tina had already put Cy6 way behind her a while ago), 3) I was getting very burnt continuing to run these servers and deal with "issue" people had, and 4) finally and probably most importantly, I think what finally put the nail in the coffin is the fact that running Cy6 was very expensive and roughly 90% of the expenses came out of my own pocket.
So where does this leave CheckYour6.net? Thats a very good question. One thing I would like to make very clear is that all the projects will continue to move forward and be updated on a regular basis. I will also still update the Cy6 site as I will continue to keep up with the industry news and interesting rumors and reports. One thing I am definitely considering is converting CheckYour6.net into a game programming portal not just limit to HL1 and HL2 mods, but for other games as well. Hopefully people will be interested in this and I can get some feedback from other developers as we draw closer to this transition. The existing Cy6 projects, such as but not limited to PHPAdmin, UpTime, RateEnforce, will be starter projects to be hosted here in order to attract other developers looking for a home. If you are interested, please contact David by emailing here.
So what are some of your other plans? Another project that I have been considering is a professional programmers site. Although this might seem similar to the future of Cy6 becoming a game programmers portal, it is in fact very different. There are not any definite plans on this yet, but it is something that I am seriously considering doing. Hopefully this will attract mature adult looking to interact with others in their field of interest. Its just an idea I am throwing around.
Well, it looks like I am wrapping it up here for this chapter for Cy6. Keep an eye out for the new projects and website focus for Cy6. For those people interested in keeping touch, I will create a mailing list for long time regulars to keep in contact with each other. If you are interested in exchanging contact info, please email David or Tina at the following email address: farewell{}at{}checkyour6.net and we can include you in the list and exchange info. I would just like to say once again, for the 7+ years that CheckYour6 has been running, it has been fun for the most part and I have met some very interesting people and that I hope you have had as much fun as I have.

PHPAdmin Update v3.9.0.1
As promised, here is another update for PHPAdmin which addresses some issues in the previous version and a few user requests. This is a mandatory update. Please update your install as soon as possible as the previous version will not be supported. Here is the changelog:
- [FIX] Stability issue that was caused by players with names containing filtered words without filtering trailing whitespace in the regular expression.
- [FIX] Issue with Windows and Linux interoperability in which communication between the HLx server and the ircbot. This regression was introduced with the change to the encryption library in the last update; the fix will now make it so you can mix server and ircbot from different platforms.
- [CHANGE] Changed reserved slot behavior to make it so that if all players on the servers have a reserved slot, the last player to join (who has a reserved slot by definition) would not be kicked. This is to address a workaround to effectively disable reserved slots.
RateEnforce Update v1.3.0.1
There is an update to fix reported issues with the new high rates and a few bug fixes found in previous versions. The rates have been changed to the previous 1.2 version. This is a required update though as it addresses a couple of bugs. Here is changelog:
- [FIX] Various bug fixes. Highly recommend updating to this version.
- [CHANGE] Rates changes: Rate (10000) and UpdateRate (30).

Server Down Time
As you may have noticed the server has been down for about a week now. Unfortunately we hit an unknown issue with the server and I have not been able to repair it remotely. Around the first indications of trouble, I was scheduled to leave for a business trip and I just have not gotten back. I will be heading to the datacenter later today and find out what is wrong with the machine. I dont have an estimate on a repair time simply because I dont know what the problem is. I will have more info later tonight or tomorrow evening once I get off work. Stand by for more details.

RateEnforce v1.3 Released
Well.... by request of CAL I have updated the rate enforce plugin. The new rates are set incredibly high on purpose as this will force all players to utilitize the maximum bandwidth on their connections. By doing this, this basically should be the last release for the rateenforce plugin unless connection speeds go way way way up, but I doubt it.
